2011 has been a great year in gaming due to the amount of titles gamers have seen released. Voiceable has compiled a list of the top 10 most anticipated games of 2011.

#10 – RAGE:

With John Carmack at the development helm for RAGE, much has been expected from the id Software-developed shooter. Features for the game include:

  • Visual elements are stunning
  • Variety of weapons
  • Vehicles included

#9 – Battlefield 3:

One of the sole reasons Battlefield 3’s hype has been massive is due to the proprietary Frostbite 2 engine to deliver next-generation gameplay, as well as setting the bar for visuals. Features for the DICE-developed shooter are:

  • Frostbite 2 engine
  • Multiplayer component
  • Various vehicles including jets and tanks

#8 – Portal 2:

Portal 2 is one of the most anticipated games of 2011 due to the success of its genius of a predecessor that is Portal. Developed by none other than Valve, the game delivers:

  • Online mode in both offline and online components
  • Voice acting from stellar actors
  • Levels initially simple and gets progressively difficult

#7 – The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword:

Nintendo has had a fairly disappointing 2011 launch line up for the Nintendo Wii, with the only exception being The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword. Features for the game include:

  • Takes full advantage of Wii Motion Plus
  • Visually appealing
  • Memorable story

#6 – Batman: Arkham City:

Batman: Arkham Asylum was arguably, my million of gamers, the best title to see a release in 2009. The sequel’s anticipation has understandably been monstrous but it indeed managed to exceed the anticipation by becoming of the highest rated games in history. Notable features for the game include:

  • Several new gadgets for Batman
  • Various bosses from the franchise present
  • Combat is satisfying and fluid

#5 – Dead Space 2:

Dead Space has proved to be a successful franchise for Electronic Arts and credit to their consistency for the IP; initial sales for the original Dead Space weren’t great but it received critical acclaim and EA followed through with a sequel that arguably matched and topped all expectations with features such as:

  • Online mode
  • Story delivered in an extremely dark nature
  • All gameplay elements upgraded for the better

#4 – Dark Souls:

Much anticipation has been placed on Dark Souls’ shoulders due to the beast of a game that was Demon’s Souls. Features for the title includes:

  • Provides memorable challenge
  • Online multiplayer component
  • Game world is massive

#3 – Saints Row: The Third:

Over the top action is the selling point of Saints Row: The Third; the game goes as far as a dildo-shaped bat being a playable weapon. Other notable features for THQ and Volition’s game are:

  • Co-op mode
  • Solid campaign filled with humor
  • Over the top gameplay

#2 – Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3:

Activision has successfully annualized their billion dollar franchise, Call of Duty, which was continued by Infinity Ward’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3. The shooter consists of:

  • Another blockbuster multiplayer experience
  • Updates maps and weapons
  • All killstreaks and perks, etc., have all been improved considerably

#1 – The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim:

Bethesda Softwork’s continuation of The Elder Scrolls series comes in the form of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim; arguably the most anticipated titles of 2011 due to the legacy its predecessors left in the market with its memorable role-playing game action, Skyrim features:

  • Audio is soothing and memorable
  • Various enemies including dragons
  • Game world is humongous
