It is possible if you jailbreak the iphone which is very easy to do. It is about the same difficulty as getting a rom to work on the android. I’m not an apple fanboy, but this comic doesn’t make much sense.

So I just start XCode, cut’n'paste from the samples and e voila, 15 minutes later I have an app that does what I want.
Or I open the appstore and find it.
